Leston Welsh was born in Jamaica. He attended Balaclava Primary (elementary school) and Munro College (high school). He spent the latter part of his high school career concentrating in mathematics, Accounting, and other business subjects. Then he migrated to New York after completing high school.
Leston attended York College in Queens before transferring to Baruch College. He recieved his B.A. degree in mathematics from Baruch in June 2000. He also worked for Pricewaterhouse Coopers straight out of college before coming to New York Life Insurance Company where he currently worked as an Actuary.
According to Purdue University , Actuaries use mathematics, statistics, and financial theory to study uncertain future events , especially those of concern to insurance and pension programs . Actuaries may work for insurance companies , consulting firms , governments ,hospitals, banks & investment firms ,or more generally in businesses that need to manage financial risk. Leston describes his career as an Actuary is better described as an ''business'' career with a mathematical basis than as a ''technical'' mathematical career. he also find the actuarial field very interesting,& rewarding and intend to persue it for a very long time.
